Beniya Mukayu

A Relais & Chateaux property, Beniya Mukayu is a luxury ryokan spa retreat nestled in the countryside of Yamashiro Onsen, part of the Kaga Onsen area in southern Ishikawa Prefecture. Its architecture elegantly emphasizes contrasts between light, shade and neutral colours and every room exudes Zen charm and has its own private open-air hot spring bath, with a wonderful view of the authentic Japanese garden.

The ryokan’s restaurant offers authentic Kaga kaiseki multi-course dinners made with the finest locally sourced ingredients, presented in locally handmade elegant ceramics and lacquerware.

Beniya Mukayu also curates a wide range of activities for guests with local artisans, where they can try their hands at making soba noodles, washi paper or urushi lacquerware. Guided hikes of the nearby Mt Ozuchi are possible, as are kimono wearing experiences or tasting sessions of locally roasted green tea.

The traditional daily tea ceremony performed by the owner, yoga lessons given every morning, delicious meals, as well as invigorating medicinal spa treatments, combine to make Beniya Mukayu a peaceful haven and the perfect spot to stay in Yamashiro Onsen.
