Cross Hotel Kyoto

Cross Hotel, Kyoto

Situated between Kawaramachi & Kiyamachi streets, just off Sanjo in the heart of Kyoto’s shopping and gourmet districts, Cross Hotel Kyoto has an outstanding location. With many of Kyoto’s sights within walking distance and stations of the Keihan Line, Subway Tozai Line and Hankyu Line all within a few minutes’ walk, the hotel is a great choice for a base from which to explore this historic city.

Inspired by Kyoto’s traditional culture and wooden buildings, Cross Hotel Kyoto’s modern guestrooms are adorned with warm wooden décor and washi paper lighting, creating a welcoming and relaxing environment. After coming back from a long day of sightseeing, enjoy a relaxing bath with aromatic bath amenities produced by the luxury British skincare brand “ilā”. Rooms are also fairly spacious by Japanese standards and bathrooms and toilets are separate.

The hotel’s restaurant & bar, Brasserie Kiharu, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and the bar area is a nice place to enjoy a cocktail and unwind at the end of the day. Breakfast is buffet style but many choices can be cooked fresh to order and the selection and variety of options is vast; truly something for everyone.

While this is a mid range hotel, its prices are very reasonable and for visitors wanting to be in the heart of Kyoto, it’s a fantastic choice. Recommended.

Truth be told, I love this hotel! While it's not by any means Kyoto's most luxurious hotel and there are many with more to offer in terms of facilities and rooms that come with a hefty price tag, Cross Hotel Kyoto is a real winner for me for its reasonably priced, decent sized rooms and - most of all - it's unbeatable location for those who want to be right in the heart of Kyoto's action. Turn right out of the hotel and you'll find yourself in Kyoto's gourmet district, with hundreds and hundreds of restaurants and bars in every direction. Turn left as you leave the hotel and you're in the Teramachi, Kawaramachi shopping district; thronged with shops and shoppers and with all sorts to browse. A 15 minute walk will bring you to Gion or to Maruyama Park, while in the opposite direction, you can reach Nishiki Market after a 10 minute stroll. Several subway stations are close nearby, so getting to other parts of Kyoto is a breeze. All in all, for me, this hotel is a winner!
