Sake Tastings

Do you enjoy the occasional cup of sake? If so, this is the perfect opportunity to find out more about this traditional drink. Even if you have never tried this Japanese rice wine, a sake-tasting experience is a great chance to try this type of alcohol.

In Kyoto, enjoy a tour of a former sake brewery, where you’ll be able to learn about the brewing process before tasting at least three different types of sake. Dry and sweet are the two main words you’ll discover apply to sake as well as other wines. This tour is available at 11am or 4pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

You can precede your sake-tasting with a guided walk around Fushimi Inari Shrine, which is famous for its tunnels of red tori gates built on a hillside overlooking the city of Kyoto. This tour is only available on Thursday and Saturday mornings.

Alternatively, combine your sake-tasting with a tour of Kyoto’s famous Nishiki food market and a cooking class to give you the full Kyoto food experience. This tour is available on Thursday, Friday and Sunday afternoons.

Please note that participants must be aged 20 years and over.
