Sandankyo

Sandankyo Gorge is a scenic 16-kilometer ravine in Hiroshima Prefecture, known for its emerald rivers, dramatic waterfalls, and lush forest landscapes. Designated a Special Place of Scenic Beauty, it features five famous spots including the three-tiered Sandandaki Falls and the crystal-clear Kurobuchi Pool.

Visitors can enjoy hiking along elevated trails or take small boat rides through narrow, cliff-lined gorges. The area is especially popular in autumn for its vibrant foliage and in summer for its cool, shaded paths. Originally discovered in the early 20th century, the gorge has been carefully preserved to highlight its natural beauty.
