Daisho-in is one of the most important temples in Shingon Buddhism and the sect’s founder, Kobo Daishi, first began the practice of Buddhism on Miyajima.
The temple has interesting pavilions, lily-filled ponds, and stone lanterns, and makes a good place to get away from the crowds. There’s also an illuminated area which you can enter. The temple is open to visitors from 8a.m. until 5p.m.
