Hoshinoya Fuji

Hoshinoya Fuji lies on the slopes of a hill overlooking Lake Kawaguchi. Japan’s first luxury glamping resort, this is an intimate place, hidden from the world by a pristine red pine forest and mountain mists, but at the same time affording guests stunning vistas, Hoshinoya Fuji offers the ultimate experience in “glamping” with a focus on relaxation through the exploration of nature and the outdoors.

Accommodation is in a range of minimalist cabins which line the hillside, looking over the beautiful lake that lies directly ahead, with majestic Mt. Fuji in the background. Living room-style balconies occupy a third of each cabin, blurring the line between interior and exterior.

Within the forested grounds lies a network of walkways and wooden platforms. A shady path might lead to al fresco forest dining; a modern campfire for toasting marshmallows; hot tea and a wood stove; or perhaps a decked area for morning stretches.

In true camping style, the food is as fun as the setting. Guests may find themselves in the forest wearing aprons and making pizza, with an assortment of unusual mountain vegetables, before cooking them in an outdoor clay oven.

In the vaulted wooden restaurant, an imaginative take on Japanese cuisine is served, including melt-in-the-mouth venison steak fresh from Mount Fuji’s slopes. Diners can also eat al fresco on the Cloud Terrace.

Hoshinoya Fuji also curates a range of activities and experiences for guests, including canoeing on Lake Kawaguchi, food smoking workshops, and yoga sessions, as well as various sightseeing excursions.
